‘Alice’ has a cosmopolitan population of 27,000 and services a large number of Aboriginal communities in the vast surrounding area as well as a thriving tourist industry.

We have the great fortune to be completely surrounded by and equidistant to, all of Australia’s great beaches (mind you it is a bit of a drive).

The Alice Springs Steiner School began operating with a kindergarten in July 1996 after a number of years of regular philosophy and planning meetings for the founding parent group.

In July 1997 a registered primary school began with a composite class 1 & 2 and in February 1998 the school was extended to class 3. In 1999 the school ran a class 1 and a class 2 / 3. In 2000 we had a class 1, a class 2, and a class 3 / 4, in 2002 we have Class 1, 2 ,3 ,4 & 5/6.

Around 75 children are involved with the school through the playgroup, kindergarten and primary school.

At present the school and kindergarten are situated within the grounds and parkland of the Araluen Arts Complex in the ‘Folk Cottage’ and ‘Youth Theatre’.

We are hoping to start building our school next year at a site on Ross Highway, 10 minutes outside Alice Springs.

The school is continuing to grow and will require additional Steiner trained teachers to join our staff for a number of years to come. If this strikes a chord and if the red heart sings to your heart, please contact us:
