| Alstonville (near Byron Bay) | Hello I like to put my story on the website. I am going to live in Alstonville and I am interested in a Steiner school for my 5 year old daughter Joyce but there is no Steiner school in beautiful Alstonville NSW. Are there more mums and parents in this area who like to start a pre school kinder garden school or anything like that. Education in the spiritual way. Or do you know who like to set something up in this area please mail me. | zonnetje-dewit@hotmail.com | 24th February 2006 |
| Bowral | We have just begun the beautiful family journey. I found that I was already searching for Steiner Schools during our recent pregnancy. It is never to soon to plan a marvellous education. I too was dismayed by the Bowral school closing down, although I think optimistically that enough voices will be heard and people will come together to form a community to pave a way for the next school. I am enthusiastic to be involved with organising and planning for a school and my husband and I are content to live in the highlands and hope this will be a way forward for schooling and life for our precious daughter. | sophiacece@bigpond.com | 20th November 2008 |

Hi my name is Bernadette. I have two boys, one is 3 years old and the other is 4 months. My family will be moving to Bargo in the near future which we are excited about except there is no Steiner school in the area. We would love to see the Bowral school reopened but are not sure if or how it is possible. We will be willing to get actively involved on any level. If anybody has any ideas we would love to hear from you. The other alternative is to home school our children following the Steiner approach. Again if anybody is interested in home schooling please let me know. |

| Bowral | My name is Rachael and I'm the proud mother of a 17 month old son (as at 13/3/08). I have been looking for the right sort of school to send my son to, and it wasn't until I recently found out about the Steiner schools that I felt I had found it! I live at Bargo in NSW and was extremely disappointed to discover that Bowral Rudolph Steiner School only closed down recently. There are no other schools within an hours drive from here and I have heard that there are many parents wanting this school re-opened. Sutherland Shire - new school initiative? I'm looking to see if there is still an impulse to start a Steiner/Waldorf school in the Sutherland area. I am a Steiner teacher who grew up in Miranda, in the Sutherland Shire. I would absolutely love to see a Steiner school in the Shire. Maybe a home-schooling group to start with to see if we can build up a foundation group to 'get it off the ground'??? I've taught at a couple of Steiner schools, Foundation Year in Anthroposophy and the Arts, and completing my Masters in Education focusing on Steiner education. I've also been involved in the registration/re-registration with government officials, so I could definitely contribute to the initiative - I think if we get enough support and the impulse is there, it could become a reality! |

Hello,
we live about 60km north of Toowoomba. Our son is 3 yrs old and
is an exceptionally active, hands on child who loves music and
dance and being into everything; like a huge number of other
children, but likely at the more extreme end of the spectrum.
Given his temperament and quite limited concentration span, I am
very dubious about the efficacy of traditional schooling in his
case and the Steiner model appears to offer what I believe would
suit him better than more traditional educational models. I
am finishing a science degree in November, if there is any
possibility of a Steiner school getting started in the region I
would be more than happy to be involved in getting it up and
running and know a couple of other people with very young
children who may also be interested in being quite involved,
Regards,
Cass Norton

Geer – 0422 449 223 Megan and Tanya run a Steiner inspired playgroup on Bribie Island and are very involved in the Steiner education community in SE Queensland. Both women have a background in childcare and teaching and are keen to see their own children educated in a nurturing and creative environment. Community participation is needed to get this project off the ground in time for our children. If you are interested in being a part of this special project contact us immediately to express your support and find out more. A little about Steiner kindergartens During the first seven years children are physically forming and live very much in their imagination. This great capacity to enter into imaginative pictures and stories is a good place to begin the process of learning. Free, creative play is considered the best preparation for self-realising adult life. The teacher endeavours to create an environment that gives children time to play and encourages them to exercise their imagination and learn to conjure up ideas from within themselves. Simple homely tasks and artistic activities to both do and see are balanced with storytelling, singing games and generous play times. A rich supply of natural materials provides scope for imagination in play, which refined toys often deny. Activities offered for the four to six year olds are based on the house and garden. These include sweeping, gardening, cooking, building cubbies, looking after animals, singing, listening to stories, helping to prepare the meal table, cutting fruit, painting, clay modelling and drawing. Children learn to enjoy building, using the natural materials in the room to make their own constructions and patterns. Practical experience helps the child develop confidence and capabilities. Steiner education seeks to nurture the senses through water-colour painting and singing, beeswax and clay modelling. The teacher works consistently to provide rhythm and structure to the day, week, year and whole curriculum, to harmonise with the child’s natural rhythms. At this age, children are discovering how to relate socially with a peer group and take part in fundamental life tasks. Through meeting and playing creatively together, children learn vital interpersonal skills. The teacher plays an important role in enabling relationships between children to strengthen through play. Young children develop primarily in their doing, learning through imitation and physical activity. The role of the teacher is to provide a model for the children and a secure space in which to discover the world. They are not yet ready for more formal classes. Thus, the teacher reserves the formal teaching of numbers and letters for the child’s next developmental stage, signalled physically by the change of teeth, at about the age of seven. |

| Bribie Island |
We live on Bribie Island, an hour north of Brisbane just below the
Sunshine Coast. Bribie is a wonderful little island full of beauty
and nature. Its potential for learning is huge as we have loggerhead
turtles, dolphins and dugongs regularly sited in the Pumicestone
Passage, as well as carefully preserved bird sanctuaries, ducks and
lizards freely roaming the beaches and streets, pelicans at every
turn and flora and fauna in abundance. Bribie is currently lacking
in resources for the large number of young families migrating to the
island and only has one kindergarten with 40 places and a waiting
list of over 100 as well as a couple of ABC learning centres. There
are a large number of mum’s who love living on the island and enjoy
the lifestyle but struggle to find the kind of education they want
for their children. |

Hi,
I'm very interested in a Steiner School initiative in my area. I'm in the Redlands, east of Brisbane, and have a 4 year old daughter. I've just started at the local public school and am quite unhappy with some of the goings on, thus am looking for alternatives. I'm even considering a move to Samford just to take advantage of this kind of education, however being a mum on my own makes the money side of things a bit tough. Let me know if there's anything I can do to be involved and help in such a project. Kerry |

If your child is currently between ages 0 and 3 years – your child could commence and continue a Steiner primary education right here in the western suburbs of Adelaide. The school would open with classes Reception and Grade 1 and each year as that class moves on a level, a new class 1 is begun. Thus in 7 years a full primary school of Steiner classes is formed. We are seeking as many registrations of interest as possible to progress. setting up a very basic school on my property and would be looking for a
Steiner teacher who would be interested in teaching a small group of
kids, 6-10 children ranging from 5 -10yrs (currently). There would be accommodation available for the teacher if desired. |

| Indonesia (Ubud) | Currently I (Steiner teacher) am starting up a
homeschooling group in North from Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Age groups are children born in 1998/99; 2001/02 and 2004. In future we might be able to expand to more age groups and even to high school. Children are taught mainly by teacher/teacher assistant in homely environment. Beautiful lush tropical quiet environment. Climate is not too hot though (1000 m altitude). Interested families can be guided with renting accommodation near the "school". Violin teacher available. Organic gardening; horse riding; raw food; trekking. |

| New Zealand | I'm interested in setting up a Steiner stream in our local very new primary school on Waiheke Island near Auckland, NZ, anyone know of some great ideas/tips or advice that would help me do this? Mandy ( with 6 year old son). | mandy.lewis@xtra.co.nz | 23rd July 2006 |
| Tokyo (Japan) | Hello, my name is Midori Ito. I am a mother of two sons ( five and one). My older son will be graduating his Steiner kindergarden next spring. Instead of entering public elementary school, me and couple of other parents are planning to establish a Steinger school in Tokyo. However initially we are planning to start from home schooling. The reason will be that since we had the blessing to see how beautiful a child's life could be through a philosophy filled with love and care, i.e. attending a Steiner kindergarden. We would like to continue the teaching as long as we can, but unfortunately there are no Steiner schools in Tokyo. That is the reason why we would like to start from home schooling.
If you happen to know anyone whom is willing to teach a small group in Tokyo. Is it possible for me to get in contact with that person? Thank you, |
