These are Government schools, and they run the Steiner program in parallel with their mainstream curriculum.

East Bentleigh Primary School in Victoria was the first, starting in 1991 with 17 children in the first Prep class.

There are some compromises needed to fit within the State system, mainly administration issues, but the curriculum offered within the classroom is quite close to that offered by other Steiner Schools in Australia.

The class teachers are employed by the Government, however there will be an extra charge for lessons such as Eurhythmy and instrumental music. This will vary from school to school.
