Castlemaine Secondary College has commenced its new Year 9 Steiner class for 2006. This exciting initiative (a first for regional Victoria) has been planned and developed in close consultation with parents and teachers from the local Steiner School, whose classes run to Year 8.
During 2005, a dedicated team of experienced staff from the College undertook Steiner teacher training each Wednesday at Warranwood. They have embraced the Steiner philosophy of learning, and they are putting their ideas into practice with their Year 9 class in 2006 as well looking forward to the groups that follow in the years ahead.
The College is offering a full Year 9 Steiner program and in subsequent years will take the inaugural class through to Year 12. The Year 9 homeroom is located on the College’s senior campus, in a lovely bushland setting on the edge of Castlemaine. The weekly farming component of the curriculum takes place at a local vineyard and cidery known for its innovative biodynamic farming practices.
Castlemaine Secondary College is already noted statewide for its very strong music and arts programs, and the Steiner class sits well within this framework, adding a further educational option for the local community.
With further students due to join the class for second semester, the Year 9 class is almost full for 2006. Interested parents are asked to contact the school on (03) 5479 4222 for enrolment information for 2007.| Offering | Year 9 |
